[GSA] The Hotel, New De Stijl
De Stijl is a manifestation of the Mondrain
painting by Piet Mondrain.The theory behind De Stijl was to bring back everything to its basic; the pure form and the colours sought to embrace social order and spiritual harmony. The reason for its action is because they would like to remove ornaments from design which represents the class struggle.
By disassembling the framework of De Stijl, it could be said that everything is “back to basics”, which if I were to assemble that theory into today context, the framework would be the same but result would be different. The framework of “back to basics” would be of basic forms, honesty of materials and linear composition of materials(process sketches provided).
